According to a story reported by Reuters, the Brahma Brewing Company, a Brazilian brewery, was recently ordered by local courts to pay Brazilian-born Bernd Naveke $30,000 in damages and a monthly pension for life for having turned this former employee into an alcoholic. Naveke had sued, arguing that in his capacity as senior brewer he had been required to taste up to 12 liters of beer a day for 20 years, and that he had been forced into early retirement at age 40 due to a subsequent drinking problem.
