How it Works:

Protein is swabbed off the sample area and suspended in an alkaline solution. When copper sulfate is added to the solution, the copper icons react with the peptide bonds in the protein to form a protein-Cu chain that produces a purple color. The greater the concentration of protein present, the darker purple the reagent will turn.
